The Parisian monetary workshop, built in 1775, is both a palace and a factory whose original industrial vocation has been preserved until today. Indeed, the production of arts and crafts according to ancestral know-how and methods handed down from generation to generation, still practiced today, make the Monnaie de Paris the first and last factory in operation in Paris.
For the European Heritage Days, the public may exceptionally enter the Grand Monnayage to track and understand the coin and medal manufacturing process, and discover a unique art profession, that of a coiner whose action transforms a flan into a medal or civilian or military decoration.
This discovery will notably follow the manufacturing stages of the monetary collections made by the Monnaie de Paris in honor of the Rugby World Cup, as well as those of gold, silver and bronze medals
