centennial exhibition of the Notre-Dame du Raincy church
The church of Notre-Dame du Raincy is recognized worldwide as an emblematic landmark of 20th century architecture, under the name of «the Sainte Chapelle du béton armé», so named by Le Corbusier. Major work of the architect Auguste Perret, it celebrated its hundred years on June 18, 2023. On this occasion an exhibition, prepared by the historical society of Raincy and the association RESTAURATION, is installed on the forecourt of the church: - The first part presents the projects not selected, the progress of the site, the laying of the foundation stone on 30 April 1922 and finally the inauguration on 17 June 1923. - The second part explains the architectural particularities of the building designed by Auguste Perret and the contribution of the artists: Maurice Denis, Marguerite Huré and Antoine Bourdelle. - The third part concerns the restoration work of the bell tower completed in 2023.
