This year, the Val Fleury puts archaeology in the spotlight with an exceptional exhibition designed by the National Institute of Preventive Archaeological Research (Inrap): you will know everything about the profession of archaeologist, the role and the missions of the Inrap, and go back in time to discover the remains uncovered in recent decades on the Saclay plateau.

About the location

Château du Val Fleury
5 allée du Val-Fleury 91190 Gif-sur-Yvette
  • Essonne
  • Île-de-France
Built in the 19th century, the Château du Val Fleury stands atop its 860 m² in a landscaped park that extends to the banks of the Yvette. Until the second half of the 20th century, the castle was the residence of local notables who often changed. In 1949, the first steps were taken to create the CEA on the Plateau de Saclay; to accommodate the staff, the CEA acquired, in 1947, the property of Val Fleury. Until 2000, the field housed researchers, trainees and engineers working on the Saclay plateau. Then the castle ceased its activity, before becoming the property of the municipality which made the acquisition in 2003\. Completely rehabilitated, it is transformed into a cultural space dedicated to exhibitions.
