Inria, a French institute dedicated to digital sciences, was founded in 1967 in Rocquencourt on a post-war stronghold occupied by Allied troops from 1952 to 1967, by the French government following the launch of the Plan Calcul. Major innovations have emerged, particularly in the areas of the Internet, the web, health and transport.
