Conferences, exhibition and visits of the Church of Saint-Martin de Yèbles
Labeled «Heritage of regional interest», the majestic medieval church of Saint-Martin de Yèbles participates this year in the European Heritage Days. The Commune de Yèbles and the Association Culture et Patrimoine de Yèbles (ACEPY) are joining forces to make this first participation an event.
Located in the center of the village of Yèbles, the Saint-Martin church was built from the 12th century: its vaulted ogive heart testifies to it, as well as its bell tower on the north side of the building. Its nave, remodeled until the sixteenth century, has a vaulted cover in handle of basket as well as bays in semicircular. Despite the lack of protection under the Historical Monuments, the church Saint-Martin is a particularly endearing church in the department of Seine-et-Marne. The high quality of its liturgical furniture is also noteworthy: pulpit to preach, stalls, altarpieces, paintings (several elements of its furniture are notably inscribed as historical monuments such as its High Altar).
Since the spring of 2022, the Saint-Martin church has been undergoing a major renovation. During the works, unexpected treasures were revealed: paintings and murals of exceptional pictorial quality. Suzana Guénégo, heritage architect in charge of the renovation and Anne-Claire Hauduroy, curator-restorer of painted works will be present in the church from 4pm to discuss the challenges of the renovation, but also the discoveries made. They will also evoke their craft of arts and passions that contribute to safeguarding the local heritage and make our common history live.
In addition to the renovation of the building, the project includes the development of the surroundings of the church, the lighting of its facades and the creation of a friendly green space in the heart of the village. A subscription has been opened by the Heritage Foundation. By making a donation, you are making your contribution to the restoration and safeguarding of the Saint-Martin de Yèbles church, which has undeniable heritage value.
