DR

This year, in keeping with the theme «Heritage of sport», the Musée des Arts Forains highlights the importance given to sport on the fairgrounds of the Belle Epoque. This unique conference will be hosted by Eloïse Galliard, head of collections at the Pavillons de Bercy.
In the nineteenth century, the funfair is not just about rides and attractions. It also offers many shows: cinema, cabarets, theatres, entresorts, scientific popularization and… sporting exploits. Between the exhibitions of strongmen, the real wrestling shows or the famous Death Walls, visitors are amazed… without depriving oneself of participating.
This scientific conference is intended for people over 12 years of age and will not be accompanied by a visit to the museum.

The Pavilions of Bercy, installed in wine cellars dating from the late nineteenth century and registered in the Supplementary Inventory of Historical Monuments, serve as a setting for the Museum of Fairground Arts, the Venetian Salons, the Theatre of the Marvelous. These artistic, cultural and museographic spaces are places of spectacle where visitors are the actors of this living heritage. They frame a garden street, unique in Paris, where 25m² of cobblestones have given birth to 1200m² of vegetation. Usually hidden from view, you will discover an amazing natural heritage, both vegetal and mineral.
