In the heart of the village, the Château d'Auvers, owned by the Département of Val d'Oise, is a unique place, combining heritage and Impressionist experience in an unspoilt landscape. The Château d'Auvers was built in 1635 for Zanobi Lioni, a wealthy Italian financier at the court of Marie de Médicis, in the style of Italian Renaissance villas. He had a shell mosaic nymphaeum built, inspired by Antiquity and one of the few surviving examples in France today. In 1662, the estate was sold to Jean de Lery, who transformed the building into a French château, and then to the Prince of Conti in 1765. Purchased by the Département du Val d'Oise in 1987, the château has been on the supplementary list of historic monuments since 1997.
of historic monuments.

Since 7 October 2023, under the aegis of the Val d'Oise department, which has two sites in its territory that are closely linked to the memory of the artist - the Château d'Auvers and the Maison du docteur Gachet - the exhibition Van Gogh, les derniers voyages has been on show in the Château d'Auvers, which has been completely redesigned for the occasion.
