About the location

Christofle
9 rue Royale 75008 Paris
  • Paris
  • Île-de-France
It was at the end of the 19th century that the Christofle house moved to Rue Royale, an artery of Parisian luxury since its creation, celebrated for the unity and beauty of its facades designed by architect Jacques-Ange Gabriel in the previous century. Christofle created the storefront and interior design of the G. Fouquet store designed by Alfons Mucha. Initially occupying a few buildings on the even side of the street, Christofle will move in January 1990 to the number 9 of the street, succeeding the decorator Jansen and thus accessing the sublime Hotel Le Tellier, built in 1785.
It was on the occasion of the construction of the Place Louis XV (present-day Place de la Concorde) that the layout of the Rue Royale was decided. Louis Le Tellier, entrepreneur, but also architect and controller of the King’s Buildings, invested in a few lands of this new artery to build a series of «new houses» with numbers 9, 11 & 13\. The decorations of the hotels were delivered by the carpenter Antoine
