In the Petit-Sault tower, two historical events are highlighted:
the visit of King Francis I to Langres (mid-August 1521),
the affair of the Firecracker (20 August 1591)
Each of these events will be evoked via a sound clip resembling a modern «radioreportage». The principle of restitution is to approach these events using a current media (in this case the «radio»), in order to give them a contemporary tone (sidewalk microphones, «live» reports, interviews, sound effects, etc.). These sound clips of a few minutes will be broadcast in loop inside the tower.

About the location

Tour du Petit-Sault
1 Rue Richard de Foulon, 52200 Langres
  • Haute-Marne
  • Grand Est
This U-shaped artillery tower with elongated flanks was intended to control the northwest corner of the enclosure and the road to Paris passing at its feet. With huge embrasures and walls up to seven metres thick, its interior layout follows the slope of the terrain. The two rooms with powerful vaults are connected by a monumental staircase and support a large artillery terrace.
The exterior facings decorated with bosses and equipped with gargoyles enhance the relief and aesthetic grip of the tower.
Taking advantage of the work caused by the construction of such a building, the Chambre de Ville obtained the digging of a public well initially provided with a coping.
Naturally defended by steep slopes, this part of the enclosure did not require such an overabundance of means. A particularly skillful, impressive and oversized composition, this work depicts the military vocation of Langres at the beginning of the 16th century.
