About the location

Eglise Saint-Jean-Baptiste
1 Ruelle du Presbytère, 08190 Brienne-sur-Aisne
  • Ardennes
  • Grand Est
The church of Brienne was built in the Middle Ages, in the XIIth and XIIIth centuries, then reworked until the XIXth century. Dedicated to Saint John the Baptist since its foundation, it has powerful walls, as well as a round turret pierced with loopholes that leads to the bell tower and gives it a picturesque appearance. The church houses a high altar with Corinthian columns of the seventeenth century, as well as a baptismal basin in blue stone of Givet; the stained glass and the statuary are of interest. The church has been listed as a Historic Monument since 1926.
