During the French campaign, on March 20 and 21, 1814, two major battles took place in our sector: that of Arcis sur Aube in the presence of the Emperor and that of the two Torcys, again in the presence of the Emperor and especially Marshal Ney. The loss of life was appalling and the small village of Torcy le Grand was almost completely destroyed.
