The Manoir du «Bois Joly» in Margon dates from the beginning of the 16th century. It was built by Jacques Durant, Pierre’s father (Bailli de Saint-Denis, now Collège Arsène-Meunier in Nogent-le-Rotrou) and Jehan (later called «Seigneur du Bois Joly»). A few centuries later, in the 18th century, it belonged to an important family of Nogentaise weavers, the Pinceloup de la Grange family. In 1830, this property was collected by Mme Françoise Magdeleine Mégissier, Baronne d'Harambure. During the 19th century, it became one of the most important farms in the canton. New, more spacious buildings are being built to accommodate new agricultural activities (forestry, sheep and pig farming, horse breeding, etc.). From the War of 1870 to the First World War, the «Bois Joly» became known for its large percheron farm. Alphonse Grégoire Fardouet, son of Michel Grégoire Fardouet (first President of the Société Hippique Percheronne de France), is in charge of the operation. Many stallions were exporte
