Ensemble castral
Place du Vieux-Château, 36700 Châtillon-sur-Indre
The century that has just elapsed is insufficient to cover the protection of the Châtillonnais heritage that began in the mid-19th century with the classification as historical monuments of the collegiate church of Saint-Austregisile (list of 1862). The days of September will be devoted to the communal land control of the castral ensemble, the protections and the restorations that resulted from it. Totally dismembered between 1798 and 1809\. The remarkable castral ensemble of Châtillon sur Indre was rebuilt from the legacy of the keep in 1870\. Since this first stage, almost all of the successive municipalities have pursued acquisitions, with different motivations or objectives. This long-term work was completed in 2012 with the acquisition of a private island encompassing the tower of "Paradise in Cognet", remnant of the fortress Plantagenet built in the third quarter of the twelfth century.
