Lecture delivered by Didier Dubant:
The Communication and Audiovisual Production Establishment of the Defense preserves photographs made by Philippe Héritier during the stay of the 2nd DB in the Indre in March and April 1945.
The presentation of some of these photographs will help you discover:
in addition to the training of reserve officers and new recruits to fire on anti-aircraft guns Bofors in La Martinerie,
- several arms-battles (at Argenton-Sur-Creuse, Argy, Buzançais, Chatillon-sur-Indre, Mézières-en-Brenne and Vatan),
- the training of an engineering unit on the Creuse at the foot of the Blanc viaduct,
- the tourist and sporting rest of the men of the 2nd DB in Gargilesse-Dampierre and Clavière,
- the Théâtre aux Armées held at the Centre-Social in Châteauroux on 26 March 1945 in the presence of Josette Day, Jean Marais and with swing singer Jeannette Armand; Mr Arbello of the Opéra-Comique; Ms Jacqueline Moreau, singer; Ms Yvette Chauviré, and Roland Petit, both of the Paris Opera, who played «The Sylphides» by Chopin.
This presentation will also be an opportunity to discover photographs of Châteauroux and the Eguzon dam taken from a Piper Cub of the 2nd DB at the same time.
An exhibition of souvenirs, by the volunteers of the association and the presence of vintage vehicles by the ARVMC will complete this conference.
