Arina Essipowitsch. Unfold the image
Unfolding the image reveals a series of original photographs made by the artist in the Loire and its surroundings. Inspired by the river and its meanders, the work of Arina Essipowitsch invites you to travel through the valley, from its mineral and aquatic elements to its local architectural heritage, which inspires and nourishes it. Through her photographs, the artist explores the notions of identity and displacement, linked to her life journey. Her images capture moments of her intimacy with the sensitive surfaces she inhabits: sand, rocks, bark or walls, with the wish to make them last in time.
Born in Minsk in 1984, Arina Essipowitsch studied art in Aix-en-Provence and Dresden in Germany. She works between Berlin and Aix-en-Provence, her current place of residence. His photographs have been the subject of several exhibitions in museums, institutions and art spaces. The work of Arina Essipowitsch is like a game that seems to want to exhaust all the physical possibilities of photography, losing the spectator in the scales, folds and cuts, moving from one detail to another in an attempt to reproduce the entirety of a sensitive and introspective story
