On the occasion of the European Heritage Days, visit the Church of Saint-Laurent-la-Roche, a 14th-15th century church classified as a Historic Monument. The team of volunteers from l'Amive (Association de mise en valeur de l'église de Saint-Laurent-la-Roche) will be able to share their passion for this building during guided tours and will let you discover a part of our history with many anecdotes:

  • the story of Huguette de Sainte-Croix, accused of having her husband Étienne de Saint-Dizier murdered in 1328;
  • Charlotte de la Favée, who died in childbirth, loved and mourned by her husband, Renobert de Mont Saint-Ligier, who left a commemorative plaque in one of the chapels to testify to her affliction;
  • the fate of Philibert de Chalon, prince of Orange and head of the armies of Charles V, who died at 28 in 1530 and was probably depicted as a mage king on a mural discovered in the 1960s, and many other anecdotes to explain his statuary, paintings and wall paintings.
    Tour guides are available for foreign visitors in English, Spanish, Flemish and German.

Church of the XIVth century classified Historical Monuments. Located in a unique setting, on the first foothills of the Jura, this church holds particularly interesting works. Former priory, then parish of the surrounding villages, this church has many remarkable elements, including a mural painting "the adoration of the magi", dating from the beginning of the sixteenth and discovered in the sixties, which probably represents Philibert de Chalon. It is currently being studied by a scientific committee. The table "ND of the 7 pains", dated 1613 is also extremely interesting. You will also find a baroque altarpiece, statues, stained-glass windows representing Saint-Laurent, an important statuary, and monks' heads carved in stone. ... Visitors will discover the moving story of Charlotte de la Favée, who died in childbirth, and in memory of whom her husband had a commemorative inscription engraved in the seigneurial chapel.
