Everything started after the bombing of June 20, 1943, which left the town of Le Creusot and its factory largely in ruins. Destroyed, theatre is one of the priorities of post-war reconstruction.
André Malraux’s policy of theatrical and cultural decentralization supported the creation of the Maisons de la Culture, a network complemented by the Maisons des Arts et Loisirs. Inaugurated on September 28, 1967, La Maison des Arts et des Loisirs du Creusot embarked on a strong and ambitious project, led by a daring association that took the name of L.A.R.C. Loisirs, Arts, Rencontres, Culture.
L.A.R.C. became the first cultural action centre (CAC) in France in June 1968 at the time of their creation. In 1991, she became the national stage, a label that brought together several types of multidisciplinary institutions.
