About the location

Musée le Cinématographe à Varennes-Vauzelles
15 rue de Boulorges 58640 Varennes-Vauzelles
  • Nièvre
  • Bourgogne-Franche-Comté
This collection «Le cinématographe» is visited, since April 2013, on reservation and counts 1000 devices in all formats and as many films. On three levels, you will see a very complete collection in an exceptional state that allows you to explore the history of film technologies. In most cases, the headlamps, even the oldest ones, are in working order.
Your guide, always cheerful, is an enlightened amateur who opened, in early 2013, the Museum of his Cinema dreams, after a career in the audiovisual industry. Pascal Rigaud also has two small viewing rooms (a video and a film) and a collection of films that are stored in an almost ideal space. It has a fund comprising old amateur films from the region (especially since it itself has shot them for a long time in sub-standard formats).
