About the location

Musée des Beaux-Arts
Palais des Ducs et des États de Bourgogne-Franche-Comté 21000 Dijon
  • Côte-d'Or
  • Bourgogne-Franche-Comté
At the heart of the Burgundy, the museum of the Fine Arts of Dijon is one of the most old(former) of France. Installed(Settled) in the old(former) hotel of the dukes of Bourgogne and the eastern part of the palace of States. He(It) establishes(constitutes) in this title an essential evidence on art and history(story) of the Burgundy of the end of the Middle Ages at the end of the XIXth century. The inheritance of the dukes of Bourgogne costs it to present undisputed masterpieces of the end of the Middle Ages. Its collections encyclopaedic, existent at once from the founding period of Revolution and from curiosity of the collectors, suggest to make discoveries the most various of Egyptian art in the XXIth century. They are representative of regional artistic creation, but also open to world: five continents are represented there. With the renovation of the museum, the XXIth century joins the palace in his/her turn, by architectural interventions and a route(course) Middle Ages and Renaissance totally renewed, asserting(affirming) its opening aptly in contemporary life.
