It is one of the most beautiful buildings of the Renaissance in Franche-Comté. Built from 1567 to 1572, the main facade, about 37 m long, has two bays punctuated by Corinthian columns and composites superimposed in red marble of Sampans (Jura). It opens on the square by nine arches. In the center are the weapons and the motto of the city. The roof is covered with polychrome glazed tiles of Burgundy tradition. From both sides of the building were added in the 19th century two fountains decorated with sculpturesn on the left that of the painter François Devosge and on the right that of Jean-Baptiste Romé de l'Isle, both native of Gray. On the west side is a sundial engraved and painted on the stones.
