By four charters granted between 1194 and 1223, Pierre de Courtenay and his daughter Mathilde, count and countess of Nevers, Auxerre and Tonnerre, contributed to the liberation of inhabitants of the city of Auxerre. Through a selection of documents preserved in the Departmental Archives of Yonne and the Municipal Archives of Auxerre, the conference hosted by the Departmental Archives offers to discover these two members of the house of Courtenay, the mark they left on the city and the memory it kept through its coat of arms.
