C(h)oeur ouvrier de La Fraternelle
Since 2013, twenty amateur singers have gathered one weekend a month, led by Stéphanie Barbarou.
For the choir she did a valuable work of composition on texts and poems published in the Socialist Jura. Published mostly without a score, these texts were sung on known tunes.
The directory consists of:
– songs and poems, published in the Socialist Jura between 1896 and 1910, set to music by Stéphanie Barbarou. These songs, true memories of the workers' movements of the early twentieth century, tell the everyday toil, the struggles but also the collective mobilization. They resonate with current events;
– songs of oral tradition, work and struggle from other countries, such as songs from the Mediterranean and the East about the world of work, songs of exile;
– original compositions by Stéphanie Barbarou on politically committed contemporary texts (poems, tracts, speeches, letters, etc.).
