The Chartreux Institution opens its doors!

The oldest Catholic establishment in Lyon, founded in 1825 by Abbé Pousset, is housed in the buildings of the former Chartreuse. On the hill of the Croix-Rousse, it enjoys one of the most magnificent views of the peninsula of Lyon and the basilica of Fourvière. The Institution des Chartreux also opens the doors of its remarkable neo-gothic chapel decorated by local religious artists of great reputation. Architect Tony Desjardins was inspired by the Sainte-Chapelle de Vincennes for this remarkable work. The entire site is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
