In neo-Gothic style, the chapel of Chagneux was erected in 1889 following the apparitions of Lourdes. From the hill of Chagneux, where it rises, the eye embraces a 360° panorama with the Monts du Lyonnais, Mont Pilat and, on a clear day, up to Mont Blanc! Research undertaken in the 1990s reveals on this site evidence of medieval occupation (Christian sanctuary) and probably human habitation in the High Middle Ages. Completed in 1890, the chapel is managed by an association law 1901, the Safeguarding of the Chapel of Chagneux.
