Free, without prior reservation. Visits start every hour, from 10am. Last departure at 5pm. Duration of the visit: 45 minutes. Maximum 20 people on each tour slot.

For the first time during the heritage days, visit the IN2P3 Computing Center. As a national research infrastructure, the CC-IN2P3 is a CNRS unit that processes computer data from the largest scientific experiments in high-energy physics. The CC-IN2P3 has two computer rooms hosting several thousand servers and libraries to store nearly 340 petabytes of data on magnetic tapes. Come and discover this gem of the CNRS’s computer heritage during a 45-minute guided tour (without prior reservation).

National research infrastructure, the CC-IN2P3 is a unit of the CNRS attached to the IN2P3, the institute that federates research in particle physics, nuclear physics and astroparticle physics. It offers a set of IT services, in particular means of processing and storing large masses of scientific data. The CC-IN2P3 has two computer rooms housing several thousand servers and automated libraries to store nearly 340 petabytes of data on magnetic tapes. The CC-IN2P3 participates in about fifty experiments of international scope and holds a preponderant place with the great experiments of physics of which it manages the data.
