Viaducts of the Perrière
On the SNCF Commentry – Gannat line, between Combrailles and Limagne, imposing and elegant viaducts cross the Bouble and Sioule valleys. These majestic works are perfectly integrated into the authentic and preserved nature of our territory. They are 150 years old and the TER line is still active. The association «Les Amis des Viaducs» aims to highlight five viaducts located between Lapeyrouse and Gannat; La Bouble, Le Bélon, La Perrière, Rouzat, Neuvial. Four of them, metallic, are listed by the State as historical monuments, and those of La Bouble and Bélon are also listed as sites. In addition, in May 2019, the Aurhalpin Heritage Association recognized them as «Remarkable Industrial Complex» in conjunction with the SNCF depot in Montluçon.
Guided tours will be offered on Saturday 16 September afternoon (14h-17h) and Sunday 17 September (10h-12h and 14h-16h), at the foot of the viaducts of Bouble, La Perrière and Rouzat. On Saturdays (on Sundays there is no train) from the station of Louroux de Bouble, with the provider «Un Vélo à la Campagne», original hikes entitled: «viaducts upside down» are organized. They consist in transporting the curious and their (electric) bike by train to Lapeyrouse or Gannat. The sites of the five viaducts are freely accessible.
