Aubenas is a city born of commerce, it benefits from its geographical position between volcanoes and limestone plateau, on a very busy road since the highest antiquity. In the Middle Ages it acquired a castle, which evolved through time and was modified by the different seigneurial families. The town lived from the trade of wool canvas, then silk from the seventeenth century. There are also many Catholic religious buildings: Saint-Laurent church, Saint-Benoit dome, Cordeliers chapel.
