Meeting with women artists of the stone
The Volvic stone is the basis of the construction of the jewels of the Auvergne heritage. But do you know women who work this stone? Cutters, enamellers, engravers, sculptors? The Matrimoine of tomorrow is the work of today’s women artisans and artists. In many professions, before being able to transmit matrimony, today’s creators have already had to make their place in a world of men. This is the case for women in the stone trades. They apprenticed in boys' classes and with “master craftsmen”. They were able to create their livelihood, bring their specific touch to the sector, but they are still often unknown to the public, and girls of age to choose their future. We, the Brayauds, association of popular education around music, dances and traditions of the Auvergne country, wish to highlight these women who are building our matrimony of tomorrow. We invite them to come and exhibit their works, and to talk about their profession and its transmission around a round table. Sophie Blanchard, Chloé Mazayes and Mélissa Mégalatchoumy were present. As we are no exception to the good reputation of the Brayauds, this beautiful day will be completed by a shared meal and a wake.
