About the location

Musée de Feurs
3 Rue Victor de Laprade 42110 FEURS
  • Loire
  • Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes
The museum of Feurs traces the history of the city and its territory, from prehistory to today. The most striking historical period of the city is antiquity. Indeed, Feurs is built on the site of a Segusiave Gallic village as well as an important Gallo-Roman city of the 1st century: the ancient Forum Segusiavorum, capital of the city of Segusiaves. The name of the town of Feurs and that of the territory of Forez, in the heart of the department of the Loire, come from the name of this ancient Gallo-Roman city.
A second permanent exhibition is devoted to the landscape painter Charles Beauverie (1839-1923). Originally from Lyon, he lived for many years in the Forez and has thus produced many works (oils on canvas, etchings, watercolors) related to landscapes, everyday life in the nineteenth century… This exhibition also traces his private life, his family, his friends, his passions for archaeology and history.
The ground floor hosts various temporary exhibitions.
