For two days, Inter Vias will present the complete equipment of the Roman and Gallic fighters. Assisted by two Gallic auxiliaries of the Roman army, a legionary will welcome the public for an immersion in the historical universe of the battle. In parallel, a Roman geographer will explain the representation of the world known at the time of Caesar, as well as knowledge in mathematics and writing. Participation in the workshop is included in the visit to the Gergovie Museum.

Musée archéologique de la bataille de Gergovie
Plateau de Gergovie 63670 La Roche-Blanche
  • Puy-de-Dôme
  • Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes
Opened at the end of 2019, the Musée Archéologique de la Bataille de Gergovie welcomes its visitors to the site of Vercingetorix’s only victory against Julius Caesar during the Gallic War. More than a visit, the museum offers a lively and interactive itinerary. The space combines graphics, models, archaeological objects and multimedia, with an audiovisual room immersing the visitor in the Battle during which the Gauls prevailed over the Romans. The route also allows you to discover the history of the Gauls in Auvergne as well as the geological origins of the Plateau de Gergovie and the grandiose landscapes that surround it, including the Chaîne des Puys and the Faille de Limagne classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
