Guided tours and workshops for children at the Nouvel Institut Franco-Chinois
Between 1921 and 1946, Lyon welcomed 473 Chinese students, both men and women. Settled at the Franco-Chinese Institute in Lyon, these young people, trained in France, will strongly mark China of the twentieth century. This episode of Sino-Lyon relations is still alive in Chinese memory, if forgotten in France.
Created in 2016 on its historic site, the Musée de l'Institut Franco-Chinois traces and recalls this history. For this, he looks back on 2,000 years of Sino-Lyons relations, from the steppes of the Silk Roads to contemporary exchanges.
As a gateway to a better understanding of modern China, the Museum is open to all for free.
In September 2022, the Nouvel Institut Franco-Chinois, as part of its artistic journey «Trames» welcomes Chinese-born French artist Mengzhi Zheng. He will return to his childhood between China and France through his work halfway between drawing, architecture and sculpture.
For JEP 2022, the Nouvel Institut Franco-Chinois offers the public:
- Guided tours of the museum around the migration on Saturday and Sunday at 11am and 3pm (duration 1h)
- Two workshops for children on migration on Saturday at 10.30 am and 3 pm. In partnership with the Municipal Library of Lyon Saint-Jean (duration 1h30)
- Guided tours of the exhibition «enf(r)ance» by the artist Mengzhi Zheng.
