Stage 5 of the circuit «In the footsteps of Gauzfred de Monte Arnald»: The church of Saint-Pierre de Pomiès, certainly the oldest building in the town.
It was restored in the 19th century. The roof was completely redone in 2016 and required 12,500 slates from old local quarries.
Local volunteers will welcome you and provide explanations and documentation.

Schist building of pre-Romanesque architecture of the eleventh century, with a square chevet and triumphal arch recessed from the walls. Paintings of the nineteenth century and objects of worship. Certainly the oldest building of the town, restored in the nineteenth century.
