About the location

Hôtel de Bourvallais - Ministère de la Justice
13 place Vendôme 75001 Paris
  • Paris
  • Île-de-France
Hotel built according to the plans of Robert de Cotte and restored in the nineteenth century by the architect Destailleurs. Built in 1699, at the request of the master of petitions, Joseph-Guillaume de Vieuxville, this mansion then became the property of the financier Poisson de Bourvallais who gave it his name. Embalmed for the misappropriation of royal money for his benefit, the latter was forced to abandon his hotel to the king. On 5 September 1718, a decree of the King’s Council assigned the hotel to the Chancellor of France. For more than 250 years, without interruption, chancellors and Seals have resided in the Bourvallais hotel.
