The construction of the Notre-Dame de l'Assomption church dates back to the Middle Ages and the building continued to be transformed until the 19th century. It consists of a Romanesque portal of the twelfth century adjoined to the north of a bell tower built between the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries, both were classified as historical monuments on 30 June 1910.
Behind the west facade is a long vessel comprising nave and choir whose north and east parts were rebuilt in the nineteenth century, filling the materials of the church ruined by the fall of the spire of the bell tower in the seventeenth century. The interior is organized in five bays whose choir to the east. The sacristy was built along the east wall of the church and is accessible through the church and garden.
To the north, nestled between the bell tower and the nave, is a chapel rebuilt in the nineteenth century presenting a remarkable decoration by its harmony and its supports (wall painting, stained glass windows and furniture).
Composed in several eras, this part of the church (nave, choir, north chapel and sacristy) worthy of interest was added to the additional inventory of historical monuments on January 18, 2016. This extension of protection was motivated by studies carried out before the restoration campaigns, the conclusions of which highlighted the authenticity and uniqueness of certain elements.
The classified parts of the Notre-Dame de l'Assomption church were restored: the bell tower in 1999-2001 by M. Oudin, ACMH, and the western façade in 2006-2009 by M. Villeneuve, ACMH.
The restoration work on the unclassified parts of the church carried out between 2012 and 2021 covered the nave, the north chapel, the choir and the sacristy. The building was affected by many pathologies, such as water infiltration, structural disorders in the structures, as well as masonry alterations. A restoration had become indispensable to ensure the sustainability of the building, the conservation of the decorations and the safety of the users.
