With its imposing keep overlooking the Rhone Valley, the castle of Rochemaure does not cease to fascinate young and old. Built to control the passage of goods over the river, it is also a true architectural complex characteristic of castrum of the 12th century. The ramparts that surround it and descend into the valley, as well as most of the alleys that make up its village, date from medieval times.
Between the plateau of Coiron providing basalt and the limestone quarries at Cruas, everything was gathered to build a castle and its village with undeniable charms.
They also offer a splendid view of the Rhone and the volcanic landscapes.
