Guided tour of La FabricA of the Festival d'Avignon
On the occasion of the European Heritage Days, the Festival d'Avignon opens the doors of La FabricA, its only permanent venue.
Composed of a hall with the dimensions of the stage of the Cour d'honneur, of eighteen dwellings and two adjoining technical spaces, this theatrical «factory» allows to welcome in residence, throughout the year, artistic teams working on the preparation of their next creation for the Festival d'Avignon. This regular presence of artists on the territory of Avignon allows the Festival to intensify the work of raising awareness of the live show that it conducts with all audiences. In July, FabricA changes its function to become one of the Festival’s uncomfortable performance spaces. A 600-seat, covered theatre with a large size and height platform, it allows the presentation of large productions with significant scenic and technological needs.
During the guided tours, discover the history of the Festival through La FabricA with Clément Demontis, a guide-lecturer passionate about history. Visitors will be able to discover behind the scenes of this place that illustrates 76 years of history, theatre and celebration in Avignon.
These days will also be an opportunity to discover the behind-the-scenes photos, rehearsals and shows taken by Christophe Raynaud de Lage, official photographer of the Festival d'Avignon. So many shots immortalizing the moments of artistic effervescence in connection with La FabricA since its creation.
You can also discover models of different venues of the Festival d'Avignon, in partnership with the Maison Jean Vilar.
