A LIVING HERITAGE
Our wish: to restore to this charming country church an appearance worthy of its function during a service, a marriage or a baptism, without forgetting the votive feast of St James at the beginning of May;
A HISTORICAL HERITAGE
One of our objectives is the development of its architectural riches of 1661: three bays marked by vaults of edges, but also the floor and the pulpit entirely built in plaster, the whole will be brought to light by suitable lighting;
A HERITAGE FOR ALL AUDIENCES
In this territory of Haute-Provence, the summer and tourist demonstrations are appreciated by all, under the vaults of St Jacques, you can listen to choirs or enjoy an exhibition of photos or watercolours;
Hikers or simple walkers who explore the riches of our «Unesco Geopark» will stop in Espinouse with pleasure to admire the landscapes, from now on they will also visit the church St Jacques.
The exterior restoration (roof, facades, door) being completed, the AREC accompanies the town hall for the necessary work inside:
the ground is cleaned and covered with terracotta tiles
the recovery of the walls with lime
the restoration of paintings and woodwork,
the creation of suitable lighting
A program that will be implemented after an experiment done by a design office.

Church of St James built in 1661 by Pierre de Coriolis, Marquis d'Espinouse. The three bays are vaulted with warheads, which Raymond Collier considers as plated on vaulted edges. It houses two busts of Saint Mathieu and Saint Jacques, wooden of the XVII. Dedicated to St James this new building is a stage of the pilgrimage to Compostela. AREC has been accompanying the town hall since 2005 for the restoration of the building’s exterior, the restoration of the interior is under study. Espinouse is on the UNESCO Route du Temps Geopark of Haute-Provence
