The former Grand Hotel Lombard, one of Gap’s most iconic buildings, opens its doors to the public. Inspired by Art Deco, built between 1924 and 1946 by the Grenoble architect Georges Serbonnet, it was until the early 1970s, a luxurious and modern hotel and the meeting place of many personalities of the spectacle, politics or sports. During the Second World War, it also housed the headquarters of the occupying forces and then the allies of the Liberation. The ground floor with its staircase, its period elevator, mosaics and sculpted decorations is now the headquarters of the Hautes-Alpes Development Agency. Premises that have been the property of the Department since 2006.
Program: -Free or commented visit of the exhibition "The Lombard, from 1926 to today". -Presentation of vintage cars in partnership with the Tacot Club Gavot -11:30 am: Musical aperitif on the terrace hosted by the group "Les Semelles 2 Vents".

Built in 1924 by architect Georges Serbonnet, the former Lombard Hotel in Gap remains one of the most emblematic buildings in the city. Blending Art Nouveau and Art Deco motifs (including a remarkable vestibule with period elevator and floor mosaics), the hotel was closed in the 1970s and transformed into a private residence. Place of passage of many personalities of the world of arts, sports or politics, it houses today on the ground floor, the premises of the Departmental Agency of Economic Development and Tourism of the Hautes-Alpes. These European Heritage Days 2020 will once again be an opportunity for everyone, including the younger generations, to reappropriate for a few hours, the past of this historic building where the shadows of Edith Piaf still hover, André Gide or Fernand Reynaud with, for the first time, an unpublished presentation of original archives of the construction of the building between 1923 and 1946 as well as some service pieces of the old hotel.
