From August 23 to September 24, Isabelle Rochemars presents her works at the Requien Museum. She represents the diatoms from her observations. These single-celled algae, of inspiring beauty, are found in seawater as well as in the fresh water of our streams or ponds. It is with diatom powder that the artist paints, on a black background, these subjects that help scientists to better understand the past.

About the location

Musée Requien
67 rue Joseph Vernet 84000 Avignon

The Museum Requien bears the name of its founder Esprit Requien (1788-1851) who, passionate about natural sciences, fine arts and informed bibliophile gave his collections to the Calvet Foundation to offer to his fellow citizens. The natural history collections, gathered in the hotel of Raphaélis de Soissans, count several hundreds of thousands of samples, the only herbarium of Requien counts about 300,000 plants. Minerals, rocks, fossils and shells complete this collection where scientists find material for study. Since then, the donations of individuals or associations and the purchases of the Calvet Foundation have not ceased and have come to enrich this naturalist ensemble of first order. It is also an internationally recognized research centre.
