From its rocky promontory, the castle dominates the Verzée valley and proudly defends the kingdom of France on the Marches de Bretagne. Since the 13th century, its six towers have witnessed fierce battles between French and Bretons.
To visit the fortress of Pouancé is to cross almost four centuries of the history of France in the footsteps of the Hundred Years War, of John II of Alençon - companion of Joan of Arc - or of Bertrand du Guesclin.
Explore the remains of the medieval castle of Pouancé and experience an immersion in the heart of history.

First departure at 14:30 then every 45 minutes

Terms

Provide good footwear and clothing adapted to the weather conditions (hat, rain gear...)
Hilly site: strollers strongly not recommended.
The site is open all year round by reservation for groups (from 15 persons) and for individuals, from mid-June to mid-September, from Tuesday to Saturday, at 10.30am.

Real castle - very medieval, the castle of Pouancé is installed(settled) on border between the Anjou and Brittany. It is going to know several big(great) battles and will be one of the main points of the conquest of Brittany by the Kingdom of France. The building, unchanged for the 15th century, will make you travel in time. A the end of visit, tours(towers,ballots), home and coolbox will have no more secret as you!
