This exhibition highlights committed, talented and exceptional women who have marked the history of Angers and its region. From 1645 to the present day, the portrait of these 19 Angevines makes it possible to make visible the remarkable women that history has often invisibilized. Above all, it promotes women’s role models in order to nourish the issues of equality between women and men in the long term, within organizations and in society in general, enabling the youngest to identify themselves.
A guided tour of selected portraits will be offered from 4 pm to 4.30 pm

Until then called "Maison de la Voûte", the hotel became the residence of penitents, at the height of the Counter-Reformation. During the Revolution, the penitents dispersed, but the part called "the refuge" remained open. The hotel was reserved exclusively for the incarceration of public girls and condemned women. In 1810, it was transformed into a hospice. The last residents were transferred in 1865 to the new hospital. Since then, different assignments have been made. The construction presents a panorama of the evolution of architecture from the flamboyant to the art of the second Renaiss
