By 1050, the Lord Brient establishes on this rocky headland a first castle. From 1490, Françoise de Dinan, governess of Anne of Brittany, then Jean de Laval invest(surround) the old(former) poultry-yard of the castle to build a residence there Renaissance and to do gardens up there.

Visits of the castle, from 10 h 30 (lasted 30 minutes): a departure every 30 minutes. Last departure at 18 h. No visit between 12 h 30 and 13 h 30.
Visit free of the exhibition(exposure) " The big(great) royal dresses " of Lamyne Mr in the big(great) home. Closure(Lock) between 12 h 30 and 13 h 30.

Medieval fortress and Renaissance building, the castle of Châteaubriant tells ten centuries of history. In the Middle Ages, the castle of Châteaubriant is in the heart of the Marches de Bretagne. It is a stronghold and defends the duchy against the kingdom of France. The keep, the ramparts, the seigneurial chapel and the lodges of the medieval court still testify to the power of this fortress. In the sixteenth century, the castle became a place of residence open on gardens.
The gardens of the castle are free of charge all year round. In the large house, a 3D device allows to discover the successive stages of the construction of the castle, from 1080 to today.
