The Lockheed Super Constellation is considered the most elegant civilian transport aircraft ever built. This transatlantic aircraft is associated with the post-war development of air communications. The arrival on the lines of the jets, in the early sixties, will put an end to fifteen years of undisputed rule. Of the 513 copies built, only two remain in France and about 20 in the rest of the world, only half of them being preserved under correct conditions. There are still two in Germany and one in flight condition in Switzerland. Outside Europe, two aircraft are still flying in the United States, one in Australia. The aircraft kept in Nantes is complete, both in terms of the airframe and the engine and its fittings, which makes it an exceptional element. Put into service by Air France in 1953 under the registration F-BGNJ, the Super Constellation of Nantes was assigned to the lines Paris-New-York, Paris-Chicago, and Dakar-Rio de Janeiro.
