The Cahors Theatre is a fine example of an Italian-style theatre model (appearing in Italy at the end of the 16th century, developing in France at the end of the 18th century, and reaching its peak in the 19th century). Its construction was entrusted to Hector Malo, departmental architect, author of the expansion of the town hall. It was built in 1833 and inaugurated on June 19, 1835\. Hector Malo chose a planned neoclassical architecture, the main entrance being positioned to the north in order to look towards the boulevard, the new main axis of the city in full transformation.
