Discover freely the photographic exhibition «Raoul Hausmann and limousin enamels» which is part of the Impertinente event, the Enamel & Metal 2022 Meeting.

In 1948, the Musée de l'Bisêché in Limoges, under the scientific direction of Marie-Madeleine-S. Gauthier, organized a remarkable exhibition dedicated to Limousin champlevé enamels from the 12th, 13th and 14th centuries.
Two hundred medieval works with «animated narrations» from all over France are grouped together in a set never equaled at the time. Raoul Hausmann, presumably close to the couple Marie-Madeleine and Serge Gauthier, made a series of photographs of the works exhibited during this national event.
A collection of 28 prints is now kept in the collections of the Haute-Vienne Museum of Contemporary Art in the Raoul Hausmann collection. These recently restored works are presented in the course of the collections as part of the Impertinente event. An opportunity to discover a new facet of the work of this unclassifiable artist, founder of the Dada Berlin movement, precursor of visual poetry, installed in Limoges after the Second World War.
This exhibition is part of the Impertinente, Rencontre Émail & Métal event. This multi-site cultural and artistic event is led by the Syndicat Professionnel des Émailleurs Français (SPEF).
