The museum is dedicated to the history, arts and traditions of the country of Ussel, between the plateau of Millevaches, the valley of the Triouzoune and the high valley of the Dordogne. A museum in several parts:
* The Bonnot de Bay hotel is dedicated to jobs that have disappeared or are disappearing (blacksmithing, weaving, clog making, straw work, woodworking) and to domestic life. Tapestries from the Marchois workshops of the 17th-18th centuries and works by 20th century "cardboard painters" are presented throughout the rooms.
* Printing house, dedicated to lithographic and letterpress printing, with the equipment of the Dumond lithographic printing house, specialized in the printing of musical scores. Introductory courses in lithography are organized there every summer.
* Maison Moncourier-Beauregard: modest witness of the Ussellois habitat under the Ancien Régime.
* Chapel of the Penitents: given to the brotherhood of the blue penitents in 1677, it houses the collections
