About the location

Barrage de l'Aigle
19550 Soursac
  • Corrèze
  • Nouvelle-Aquitaine
The Aigle dam is distinguished by the originality of its architecture, with its double flood evacuators, and its impressive dimensions: 290 m long and 90 m high. The construction of a fifth production group in 1982 makes it the most powerful EDF development in the Dordogne basin with an installed capacity of 360 MW. The Eagle Dam is also known as the "Resistance Dam". Its construction from 1935 to 1945 was deliberately delayed by the Resistance Organization of the Army of Cantal, during the Second World War, not to give access to additional energy power to the occupier.
