Its very large volume of concrete (660,000 m3) allows the dam to be firmly laid on its foundations.
The combination of these two techniques allows the storage of a large volume of water: the reservoir of the Bort-les-Orgues dam contains nearly 500 million m3 of water (200,000 Olympic swimming pools). It is the fourth largest restraint in France.
