Moncade Castle was for two centuries the home of the viscounts of Béarn. Built by Gaston VII of Moncade in the thirteenth century, it has one of the first masonry ditches in Europe. Rebuilt in the 14th century by Gaston III of Foix-Béarn dit Fébus, it becomes the setting of a sumptuous court sung throughout the West.
