Maison de la poterie
Place Fourignan, 33670 Sadirac
- Gironde
- Nouvelle-Aquitaine
The pottery tradition of the village of Sadirac small village of Entre-Deux-Mers, 20 minutes from Bordeaux, goes back to antiquity and knows a continuous activity since the end of the Middle Ages. It is the great richness of the blue clay subsoil that is at the origin of this exceptional destiny. In the middle of the eighteenth century Sadirac counted 150 potters in activity who used about fifty monumental ovens.
The Maison de la Poterie, created around the remains of a 19th century pottery kiln, values this cultural heritage: it houses the ceramic museum and creative workshops led by the Association of People and Friends of Pottery (AGAP).
We propose you a permanent exhibition composed of 200 archaeological pieces, and many temporary exhibitions dedicated to contemporary ceramics.
